Malfrat Font

€15.00

Who is a Malfrat? He is a gangster, a misfit, a guy with strong personnality but not potically correct. He has a powerful language with a familiar poetry. He is a hero from the French movies from the 40s to 70s.

Over the years I developed a love for everything design from the 50/60s. And after spending many designs and fonts around my love for the mid century modern design from the US, I wanted to make a kind of “hommage” to French cinema, the one from Henri Verneuil or Michel Audiard. It was also a great moment to remember great actors like Jean Gabin, Lino Ventura, and others.

For this font, I wanted to create a condensed all caps sans with a style that can easily be used on movie posters but not only. With some added ligatures on specific letters,

In my visuals, I could add my artistic universe, such as folk art and add Malfrat to it. It works pretty well and is easy to read. I also kept a hand written style specific to the 50/60s. Making it too perfect would have killed its style and energy.

This font is licensed for one use on one computer. If you want more licences please contact me so I can make a package sale.

To use ligatures, don’t forget to activate alternate glyphs in your Opentype panel.
